What is humor? We will now talk about the competence of humor, related to the ability to face situations with a positive state, looking for the cheerful and hopeful aspect that shows an optimistic vision.

It allows you to connect emotionally with others and spreads enthusiasm. Humor properly understood implies humility and begins with oneself based on respect for others.


The positive and optimistic vision

It is related to the positive and optimistic vision of situations, creativity and adequate emotional management in stressful situations, (self-control). People with a sense of humor have greater enthusiasm and communication skills, as well as the ability to reduce tension in times of adversity, as well as more humility since well-understood humor begins with oneself.

People who have this competence tend to generate more easily environments of trust and have a greater impact on their communications, since messages accompanied by anecdotes and humor are often remembered more. In teams, this competence is highly valued, since it spreads very appropriate emotional states to relativize problems and be able to generate solutions.

This has to do with serotonin, also known as the “mood hormone“, which influences the central nervous system, representing an important role as a neurotransmitter and helps us better manage anger, pain, generates well-being and strengthens the immune system.


Practice it, visualize comedies, monologues, laughter movies, that generate positive moods.

Acknowledge and communicate your mistakes, apologize for them and do your best to compensate for the possible damage you may have done. That involves the humility of recognizing your actions and their consequences and from there you can joke about your mistakes and connect with people. Humor begins with oneself and dedramatizing situations in order to relativize them and use humor.

Practice and communicate messages in a positive, cheerful, enthusiastic way. Look at people in your environment who have a good sense of humor and observe their behaviors to be able to replicate what you consider interesting to serve as a reference. Observe your communication and take care of your language, so that it is respectful, inclusive and conveys enthusiasm and optimism.
